The most fundamental monitoring input, either on or off - sometimes called points, discretes, alarms, or contact closures. Discrete inputs are among the most important parts of your RTU (Remote Terminal/Telemetry Unit) input capacity. In fact, in decades past, discrete inputs were sometimes the only inputs. Learn about these basic inputs that are supported by a wide range of equipment.
RTU Analog Inputs
What if you need to know an exact temperature, humidity, or fuel tank level? You need to use an analog. Most of our equipment supports at least a few analog inputs, as well as trending data and graphs. In addition to knowing an exact value, you can also set four separate discrete alarms per analog to warn you of certain thresholds, like if a server room gets too hot, or if your fuel levels are getting too low.
Control Relays on an RTU
Stop driving out to remote locations just to press a reset button or flip a toggle switch. Use control relays to do the same job right from your desk at the CO... Your RTU collects a lot of data with its discrete, analog, and other specialized inputs. and that helps to build your situational awareness of a remote location that might be hundreds or thousands of miles away. Sometimes, you will realize that you need to take action.

Do you have remote serial equipment you need to manage at a remote location? A serial terminal server allows you to do the job from your desk, and it's even better when that server is integrated into your alarm remote.
