Reserve Your Seat TodayOkuda Sangyo Philippines is a systems integrator, designing and delivering solutions for some of the largest public and private companies in the Philippines.
Willie Ledesma is an Account Officer for Okuda Sangyo Philippines. When he needed remote monitoring equipment for his clients, he found DPS Telecom. "Originally, we were looking for a system for a different client that would manage telecom and we found DPS on the internet," Ledesma recalls. "I visited DpsTele.com and signed up to receive the ezine and said, 'I think this is what we're looking for. It's what our clients will need.'"
After doing initial research on the web, Ledesma called DPS to begin discussing what his client would need for their upcoming project. "In 2008, I got in touch with (DPS President) Eric Storm," he said. "I explained that we had a very big client. It was the National Transmission Corporation of the Philippines, which has now become the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines. At that time, they were still a semi-public company moving toward privatization."
"It was a custom build request. It was very gracious for DPS to design and build the equipment and let us test it in the network."
To really learn about DPS products, Ledesma visited DPS headquarters in Fresno, CA, USA for factory training. "We came to visit DPS and attended training. When we went back, we promoted it to our clients. They saw some uses for it and asked for some demo units with 125 VDC power supplies. Finally, their requirement was for a custom-built network monitoring system involving E1 RTUs, an E1 WAN Mux, and a VLAN Router."
Fortunately, DPS specializes in making adjustments to its products. With Engineering and Production in the same building as Sales, it wasn't long before a first article demonstration unit was shipped to the Philippines for testing.
"The plan is to expand to sites in all 3 regions of the Philippines. It's not a hard sell because the equipment is really good."
"It was very gracious for DPS to design and build the equipment and let us test it in the network," Ledesma said. "Our client saw the beauty of the equipment and its use, so they made a purchase."
Now, Okuda Sangyo Philippines is aiming to help their client expand the E1 RTUs to other areas of the country. "The plan is to expand to sites in all 3 regions of the Philippines," said Ledesma. "It's not a hard sell because the equipment is really good."
