Summary of this Position:

An Accounting Clerk at DPS Telecom:
Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

Duties
  • Monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
  • Codes invoices for input to accounting software according to company procedures.
  • Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, and other accounting records, and reviews for accuracy.
  • Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
  • Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
  • Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to our accounting software.
  • Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and reviews for payment.
  • Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.
  • Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.

Education/Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; OR three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:
  • Microsoft Word word processing software;
  • Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software;
  • Type 40+ Words Per Minute
  • Knowledge of sequence of procedures in the accounting cycle
Language Ability:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Knowledge of and ability to employ proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
